Atlanta, GA Rapper and entrepreneur Trinidad James has launched a new creative retail concept in the heart of Downtown Atlanta. The store, Hommewrk, opened its doors in early February at Underground Atlanta, offering a unique blend of fashion, coffee, nail services, and soon, studio space for music and video production.
More than just a boutique, Hommewrk is envisioned as a cultural hub—a space where artists, musicians, and creatives can gather, collaborate, and grow. The name, inspired by the French word “homme” (meaning “man”), plays off the idea of “doing your homework,” with each corner of the space designed to encourage learning, reflection, and innovation.
“Hommewrk is about building for the future by learning from the past,” Trinidad James said. “It’s a space to reference, reflect, and create.” James, who launched the Hommewrk brand in 2020, describes it as an apparel and design label rooted in education and storytelling. Its collections and store design aim to function as a “visual library,” with each element intended to spark thought and conversation.
The store’s arrival marks a significant moment for the ongoing revitalization of Underground Atlanta, a historic shopping and entertainment district that has undergone multiple transformations in recent years. For Trinidad James, the location carries personal meaning he once worked at a sneaker boutique in the same area. Now, he returns as a business owner, hoping to infuse the district with new life.
“This is about bringing real community vibes back to Underground,” James said. “It’s colorful, it’s creative, and it’s for the people.” Hommewrk is already being hailed as a welcome addition to the evolving landscape of downtown Atlanta, signaling a fresh wave of independent, artist-driven spaces reclaiming the city’s historic core.
